Before Server 2012 there was no way\u00a0to create Fined Grained Password Policies thru the GUI. The Windows 2012 Active Directory Administrative Center lets you create Fine Grained Password Policy quickly and easily using the GUI. I was able to successfully create a password policy using the 2012 Active Directory Administrative Center\u00a0in a Windows 2008 R2 Domain. I have outlined the steps as follows.<\/p>\n<p>Log on to a Windows 2012 Server in your Domain and install the Remote Server Administration Tools For Active Directory\u00a0if not already installed. The quickest way to do this is open PowerShell as administrator and type the following command:<\/p>\n<p>Add-WindowsFeature rsat-ad-tools<\/p>\n<p>Now open the \u201cActive Directory Administrative Center\u201d with an account that has Domain Admin privileges and navigate to the \u201cPasswords Settings Container\u201d. Right click the container and choose \u201cNew\u201d then \u201cPassword Settings\u201d as shown below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pipe2text.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/PwdPolicyContainerNavigate.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1275\" alt=\"PwdPolicyContainerNavigate\" src=\"https:\/\/pipe2text.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/PwdPolicyContainerNavigate.jpg\" width=\"542\" height=\"805\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pipe2text.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/PwdPolicyContainerNavigate.jpg 542w, https:\/\/pipe2text.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/PwdPolicyContainerNavigate-201x300.jpg 201w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 542px) 100vw, 542px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When the \u201cCreate Password Settings\u201d screen appears, fill in the settings according to your policy needs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pipe2text.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/CreatePwdPolicyScreen1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1278\" alt=\"CreatePwdPolicyScreen\" src=\"https:\/\/pipe2text.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/CreatePwdPolicyScreen1.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"626\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pipe2text.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/CreatePwdPolicyScreen1.jpg 980w, https:\/\/pipe2text.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/CreatePwdPolicyScreen1-300x191.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once you have completed filling in the policy click the \u201cAdd\u201d button and choose the User<br \/>\nor Global Security Group for which you would like to apply the policy too as<br \/>\nshown below.
